McCadden

Within McCadden, the garden's boundaries do two things at once: shelter, and dissolve. Inside, there is order, shade, water, rooms without walls. At its edges, plantings loosen and borrow from the neighboring canopy, and the property line goes soft. Painted a deep, smoky blue, the guest house is unwilling to compete but rather to recede. Framed in black limestone, a pool cast in dark plaster is still and reflective, mirroring the dense canopy overhead, its waterline traced in a chevron of teal and blue tile. An antique greenhouse, its steel frame softened by passion fruit vine, shelters a brass-fitted outdoor shower in a semi-private nook just steps from the pool, mixed flagstone giving way to a wood floor underfoot. Tucked into the foliage, a concrete bench dressed in cushions and a firebowl wait for dusk, when the garden turns inward.
